About

FLUX is the family of image-generation models built by Black Forest Labs, the German lab founded by the creators of Stable Diffusion. From FLUX.1 to FLUX.2, these models turn a prompt into high-resolution visuals and edit images from reference pictures. Available through an online playground, an API and open weights, they stand out for their photorealism and some of the most reliable in-image text rendering on the market.

Key features

  • State-of-the-art photorealism and reliable text rendering directly inside images
  • FLUX.2: images up to 4 megapixels and support for multiple reference images
  • Image editing via text instructions and reference images (FLUX Kontext, FLUX.2)
  • Online playground, pay-as-you-go API and open-weight models on Hugging Face
  • A variant for every need: [max] for maximum quality, [klein] for sub-second generation

Use cases

Create photorealistic ad visuals and product packshots for e-commerceGenerate posters and marketing visuals with crisp, legible textRoll out a consistent visual identity from reference imagesIllustrate articles, websites and social media in high resolutionBuild image generation into an application via the API

How to use it

Create a free account on bfl.ai, then open the FLUX Playground in your browser. Pick a model (FLUX.2 [pro] for quality, [klein] for speed), enter your prompt, adjust the aspect ratio and resolution, then generate and download your images. To integrate FLUX into your own applications, create an API key in the dashboard and buy pay-as-you-go credits. The open-weight versions can be downloaded from Hugging Face.

Frequently asked questions

Can you use FLUX for free?

Yes, partly. The FLUX Playground grants free credits when you sign up, enough to try the models in your browser. Some versions, such as FLUX.1 [schnell] and FLUX.2 [klein], are released as open weights and run at no cost locally if you have a suitable GPU. The API, on the other hand, is billed per generated image.

How does it differ from Midjourney or DALL-E?

FLUX stands out for its photorealism, its in-image text rendering and its openness: several models are available as open weights, so you can run them locally or fine-tune them. Unlike Midjourney, no subscription is required: the Playground offers trial credits and the API is pay-per-generation.
